BARU
A 800 acre National Wildlife refuge. Its mission is to preserve
its natural resources and educate visitors about its biological
wealth. It is located 38 kilometers north of hotel Villas
Gaia (about a thirty minutes drive) on the road to Quepos
- Manuel Antonio. (tours start at: 8:00am, 11:00am, 2:00pm).

CANOPY
TOUE - THE FLIGHT OF THE TOUCAN (Hacienda
Baru),

3 hours). Zip from one ridge top to another across valleys and streams!
This tour starts with providing instructions and equipment for
the adventurous rainforest zipline tour. After that you will start
hiking through the rainforest with two experienced, bilingual
naturalist guides. After a 20 minute hike you will get to the
first cable. Eight separate cable rides take you from one ridge
top to another. There are fourteen based platforms and one tree
platform which has a view of the coastline.
This tour is a great way to see and learn about the rainforest
and get a thrill at the same time.
CANOPY
TOURS - OSA MOUNTAIN VILLAGE U$ 35 pp (appr
3 hours). The Osa Canopy
tour is located about 20 kilometres South of the
hotel, 7.5 kilometres inland of the coastal road
and is part of a private reserve of 323 hectare.
There
are 11 cables (the largest is 550 meters, the shortest
is 91 meters), 15 platforms (the highest 91 meters,
the lowest 2 meters), 2 repelling stations, and
an amazing "tarzan" swing for the truly
adventurous!
Once
your zip line tour is over and you are back on the
ground, you will be offered a local snack of fresh
fruit and beverages.
You
can then enjoy walking through the numerous paths
filled with mountain terrain and natural serenity.
Be
sure to keep your eyes peeled because you will have
the opportunity to see all kinds of insects and
animals unique to the region, including howler monkeys,
sloths, iguanas, scarlet macaws, poison dart frogs
and much more!
