Hotel Villas Gaia is situated where the mountains come down to the sea in the region called Fila Costeña. This biologically diverse region is surrounded by some of Costa Rica's most famous natural attractions

The village of Ojochal is 1 kilometer south of Hotel Villas Gaia and is populated by Costa Ricans and foreigners alike.

The name, Ojochal derives from a tree (the Ojoche) that once dominated the natural virgin rainforest you will find here. Thanks to the efforts of Hotel Villas Gaia the Ojoche tree returns back to the natural ambience of the village through a reforestation program.

The surroundings of the village are steep high mountains coming down to the sea, cloaked with rainforest. There is a nice river that winds its way through Ojochal on its way to the sea at Playa Tortuga.
We'd like to think that all of the residents here have the same goals in mind: quality of line, personal and family well-being, environmental protection and preservation, and above all general tranquility, making Ojochal a very unique forest/beach community.
